Just a few months after homes at the all-new Indian Creek Residences & Yacht Club on Florida’s Bay Harbor Islands hit the market, a penthouse at the Kobi Karp-designed development has sold for a record-breaking price.
The penthouse, which was not publicly listed, has gone into contract for $12 million, making it the most expensive condo ever sold on either of the islands that comprise the Miami-area enclave, Robb Report has exclusively learned. For context, the previous priciest residence to ever sell in Bay Harbor Islands was a $3.3 million property that sold in 2014. Additionally, at about 5,300 square feet, the glass-walled aerie was not just the highest sale for Bay Harbor Islands; it’s also the largest penthouse to ever sell in the community.
“The fact that the largest penthouse on the Bay Harbor Islands sold less than three months after launching and without being publicly listed illustrates the demand in Miami, and this neighborhood specifically, for brand-new luxury homes that offer a one-of-a-kind lifestyle,” says Andrew Wachtfogel, president of new development for Official, who is exclusively representing marketing and sales.
Perched atop the curvaceous boutique tower, which comprises just nine luxury units, the five-bed, five-bath spread is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide unobstructed city and bay views. Designed by Linda Zarifi, the light-filled condo also has a giant wine wall and a curvy, wraparound terrace that overlooks Indian Creek, aka the Billionaire’s Bunker, so you can keep an eye on neighbors such as Jeff Bezos and Tom Brady. Other deep-pocketed residents that call the heavily secured island home include former New Yorkers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, trophy property collecting hedgie Ken Griffin, and French DJ David Guetta.
“This penthouse, and the development as a whole, resonated deeply with a New York-based buyer who understands and appreciates the appeal of condo living and saw the incredible value of this opportunity to live in a beautiful home overlooking Billionaire Bunker, without the hassle of a house,” says Jonathan Landau, founder and CEO of Landau Properties, developer of Indian Creek Residences & Yacht Club.
Other amenities in the building include one of the area’s only private yacht clubs, a private marina with multiple boat slips, a swanky rooftop pool, a world-class spa and fitness center, and an outdoor screening lounge. “Indian Creek Residences & Yacht Club is the only opportunity for a new condo development on the coveted south shore of the islands, and savvy buyers are rightfully jumping at the chance to snap up these homes,” adds Wachtfogel.
